Massage Therapy is the practice of manually manipulating muscle and other soft tissues within the body. There are several different styles with a wide variety of pressures, movements, and techniques. You can read more about the styles and benefits of what is currently offered in our clinic below.

Swedish Massage: Also known as "Relaxation Massage", Swedish is the most common massage style and uses a long strokes, kneading, and circular movements with a gentle pressure. Benefits can include increasing blood oxygen levels, improving circulation, and decreasing muscle toxins.

Deep Tissue Massage: Similar to Swedish massage when it comes to some stroke techniques, deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle, tendons and other tissue that lighter pressure may not access. A heavier pressure using elbows and forearms in addition to hands is used.

Trigger Point Therapy:
A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that cause pain, more commonly known as "knots". Trigger points can not only cause pain in a specific area, but can cause the pain to radiate to other areas of the body. The practitioner and recipient will be in communication during this therapy as the recipient will actively participate in deep breathing and assist in identifying the exact location(s) of the pain.

Prenatal Massage: Massage during pregnancy can be very beneficial and  has been showing to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Along with general pain relief, pregnancy massages can also help relieve depression or anxiety that may be caused by hormonal changes. It's also very important the recipient is as comfortable as possible; soft cushions, pillows, and bolsters will be used as needed.

*Women experiencing complications or a high-risk pregnancy should consult their doctor before scheduling a massage session.
